SEED TO SIP:
The Cauca region, in the south west of Colombia, is home to over 90,000 coffee growing families. It’s hard to believe that less than 20 years ago Cauca was a region controlled by internal war and turmoil. The conflict in the region was devastating for both farmers and families. Whilst Cauca is now a much safer place for the farmers, many people are still very much impacted by the aftermath of that conflict. Amongst them, many women who have had their husbands and families kidnapped, maimed or murdered.

Under a project, which specifically supports smallholder women coffee growers and their families, women are given the opportunity to access international markets to sell their coffee, and are educated by an agronomist with soil testing, organic fertilizer, tree health and selective picking to produce outstanding coffees. This project is more than just about the coffee. It enables women, their families and communities to have access to health, education and housing and to improve their quality of life through coffee.
